The rich get richer... and play political games....

Well, to coop a phrase from the beloved Ronald Regan, "There they go again!"

Did you know that Everyone in Congress from the Vice-President (who is the President of the Senate) down to the lowliest Representative gets an annual raise... Automatically.... Unless they vote not to?  I actually did but what is interesting is that this year, one of them tried to get a vote to stop the Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) increase from taking effect.  Guess what?  The House rejected the procedural attempt to get a public vote.

Hmmm... What could these PUBLIC SERVANTS have to hide?  Is it that they don't want their constituents to know how they would have voted to not raise their $163,000 plus salaries?  {Sigh}...  If only I could have a job that pays in the 6.5 figure range that gets an automatic raise unless I refuse it....  I guess one can dream!  And I guess the GOP, who used to vote the COLA raises down in the late '80s and 90's, don't feel fiscally responsibility is important anymore....

Just a thought

This is because the Republicans are no longer a conservative party. The party of Reagan and the Conservative Revolution is no longer the same as the Republicans. When Barbara Boxer sounds more conservative than the majority of Republicans, there is a problem. I would love to say I am shocked by this, but I am not.

This is a perfect example of abuse of power and why the goverment cuts and leaves the people that matter the most out of politics and make dicisions for us. Can I get an Amen!

"Republicans have, in fact, a well-developed sense of aesthetics. Regard the superb pairing of the decision NOT to raise the minimum wage with the continued push to repeal the estate tax. House Republicans had almost opened their marble hearts and raised the minimum, now at $5.15 an hour, to a whopping $7.25 an hour by 2009. (Since 1997, when they last raised it, members of Congress have hiked their own pay by $31,000 a year.)

This might have gone well with their decision to reduce the estate tax yet again, so that only the top half a percent of estates will pay it, while it will cost the treasury $602 billion over the first 10 years -- but even better, NO increase in the minimum wage to match the vote to decrease taxes on the very, very, very richest. Is that suave or what?"
