Continuing my recaps of Season 3 LOST episodes, this one didn't get so much lost as it took a one week detour to today. So, without further ado, I present Episode 3.07... Not in Portland (or, A candy bar killed my husband.)

About time we found out about one of The Others... even if its an Other that doesn't seem to want to be an Other. Juliet get her flashback this time and we start with a shot of her on a beach and the assumption is that its the Hydra island. Inside she passes Ethan, so we're thinking its a flashback to before the Lostaways fell from the sky... ummm... now there's a woman losing her hair and its ????Juliet's sister???? She get a painful shot from Juliet but the vial doesn't have the expected numbers on them. Rachel lies back as Juliet opens the curtains to reveal that they are in Miami, Florida... not the island!
Later, Juliet "breaks" into her lab in a university research center to steal some more medication and is interrupted by her ex-husband's cavorting with a new research assistant. Her phone rings to confirm an appointment tomorrow and Edmund finds her hiding. He calls her Dr. Burke and introduces his "friend" Sherry and asks Juliet to leave and turn off the lights.
Back on the island, Jack is yelling again at Kate and she finally relents, beats up her captors with Sawyer and run at a chance to get away. Juliet decides to call Jack's bluff and tells Tom that he won't let Ben die and tells Ivan to get Danny and recapture the two runners. Jack turns on Juliet and tells everyone about the video and her plan to kill Ben which leads Tom to tell her to leave.
Ivan lets Danny out and they go after Kate and Sawyer who are at the beach. They catch up, destroy the talkie, and force them back into the woods where they are stopped by Alex who hides them in an Others type hole in the ground. The pursuers leave them as they are leaving Alex says she has a boat they can use if they help get Karl first.
In the mean time, Ben wakes up and asks to speak to Juliet. Jack admits that this is unexpected but he's not an anesthesiologist. Ben gives Jack props for his plan and asks to talk to Juliet alone for 3 minutes. When she comes out she tells Jack to finish the surgery since she is going out to help Kate and Sawyer get away.
Back in the flashback, Juliet is asked to talk to her ex. He tells her that he knows what she is doing with her sister and that he wants to collaborate since if she is successful, they both could be rich and if she refuses, he will destroy her career. Julia then attends the appointment with a Dr. Alpert who shows her slides of woman in her 20's who's uterus looks like that of a 70-year-old. He offers her a job in Portland, Oregon to help discover what is wrong and how to fix the problem. She refuses saying that the only way she could go is if her ex-husband got hit by a bus and that she's no leader. When she gets back home, Rachel has a Widmore Pregnancy test that is positive and tells Juliet that all she has to do now is get healthy.
Back in real time, Kate, Jack and Alex use the old Wookie Prisoner gag to get past Aldo who is guarding the building Karl is in. Aldo only gives up that Karl is in Room 23 (a number!) when Kate threatens to shoot him in the knee, and she's not bluffing. In the room, Karl is being subjected to mind altering videos, music, and drugs much like in any good episode of Alias. They free him as quickly as possible while the video continues to show pictures of Alvar Hanso, Christian, Jewish, and Buddhist sayings, and finally ends with a picture of Gerald DeGroot. They carry Karl to the beach where Alex has a boat waiting when Danny catches up to them. He's about to shoot Sawyer when Juliet steps out of the jungle, speaks his name and shoots him twice.
Back in the OR, Jack is working on Ben again asks Tom why they didn't get Ben somewhere else for the surgery. He's explaining about the "purple sky" when Jack really does cut an artery and needs Tom's help who then concedes that he hates blood. Tom pitches in and has to hold the talkie up for Jack when Juliet allows Kate to tell him the story like she promised. She is then forced to agree when Jack tells her to promise not to come back for him once they leave. They then load Karl into the boat and as Alex starts to get in she says that she can't go and that her father will only let Karl live this way. Kate and Sawyer launch the boat and head off back to Lostaway island.
Back in Miami, FL, Juliet goes to tell Edmund about her sister and that she will not allow him to user Rachel for experiments. He argues a bit and steps into the street where he's suddenly hit by a bus with an Apollo Candy Bar advertisement on its side. She ends up having to ID the body at the morgue. She breaks down while signing the papers and is surprised by Dr. Alpert and Ethan who again offer her the chance to work for them and the job will only last 6 months. She asks if she can bring her sister along but the doc says getting treatment might be difficult since the remote facility is, in fact, "not quite in Portland."
In the final scene, Juliet returns to the medical building and finds Jack finished with the surgery. He asks what going to happen now and she says he will go back to the cell until they figure out what to do with him. Jack demands to know what Ben told her during the 3 minute talk. She says she's been on the island for 3 years, 2 months, and 28 days and that Ben promised if he lived, she could go home!
