The Lost LOST Recaps.... Episode 3.03.

Continuing my late recaps of Season 3 LOST episodes, I present Episode 3.03... Further Instructions (or, Locke and Load.)

----------==========+==========----------

Locke wakes up in the middle of the jungle with a naked Desmond frolicking about in the background. He gets up and finds that he can't speak. He barely manages to dodge Eko's Jesus Stick as it falls out of one of the trees. On his way to camp he runs into Charlie at the "Church" and convinces him via a funny game of charades to help build a sweat lodge so he can figure out what he's supposed to do next. Inside he meets up with Boone who takes him on a strange journey though the Sydney Airport where he sees strange copies of the lostaways getting through security and even Ben's there. Next Boone's taken him to the top of some escalators where he finds a bloody Eko Jesus Stick. Boone then turns bloody himself and tells Locke that, "he has to clean up his own mess before he can save Jack, Kate and Sawyer."

Locke's back story unfolds with a tale about his time in a communal group. He saves a hitchhiker, Eddie, on a country road from the local sheriff and takes him back to the compound. After winning the trust of the young man, Locke decides to let him in on their secret. They raise money growing marijuana in the one place Eddies not allowed, the Greenhouse. Eddie turns out to be an undercover FBI agent. Locke finds out as his "brothers and sisters" make the discover and are wigging out to safer lands with the money. Locke, trying to protect his new family, takes Eddie hunting with the intention of killing him but he can't and lets Eddie walk away

Back on the island, Locke has his voice back and enlists Charlie in his search for Eko. The two find Eko's cross and signs that a polar bear dragged him away, the imploded hatch, growling noises in the jungle and Hurley with a knife Locke has thrown in his water canteen.

Hurley explains what happened in the season 2 finale and how Henry is the leader of The Others. Locke then tells him to head back to the beach like he was told since they were going after Eko. Charlie shares a warning about the polar bears to Hurley chagrin. On his way back, he runs into a naked Desmond and shares an extra large tie-dye shirt for covering. Desmond tells him that he woke up naked in the jungle after the implosion, about the fail-safe key, and that he doesn't know anything about the purple sky or the blender noises. When he calms down even more, he tells Hurley not to worry about Jack, Kate, and Sawyer since Locke will go after them like he said in his speech. Hurley wonders out loud, "What speech?"

Locke finds Eko in the polar bear's cave and fight him off with a makeshift flame thrower. He carries Eko out and heads back to the jungle. Locke tells him that he was wrong about pushing the button and had the not stopped, their friends wouldn't have been captured. Eko wakes up and tells Locke that he can still protect everyone and he will find the ones that were lost since he is a hunter. Charlie comes back to find Eko still unconscious and Locke confused. They carry Eko back to camp where we meet two new characters, Nikki and Paulo who take Eko into Jack's tent to tend to him. Claire asks about Sun, Jin, and Sayid to Locke who replies that he is going to find them somehow. As Hurley and Charlie walk away, Hurley remarks that he's had deja vu for a second and then notices Desmond on the beach throwing rocks into the surf.
