In our discussion at work we have discussed how smart is was for the Lost creators to off one of the fan favorites on the show.... Well, here's the answer as given by the creators to SciFi News.
It was planned from the beginning since the actor who plays Eko, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, didn't want a long commitment, much like Michelle Rodriguez wanted to do with the character of Ana Lucia.
