We do live in a FREE country... don't we?

I get really tired of hearing people say that they don't mind giving up a few of their rights in order to have a better U.S. of A. They seemingly feel that losing a couple of those pesky rights that they don't happen to be using right now is just fine regardless of how much they may need them in the future. Make no mistake, I'm not talking about those rights that people pretend they were granted via the Constitution and its respective amendments but rights like protection from illegal search and seizure, the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances and the right to habeas corpus. I could go on and on about how the 2nd Amendment doesn't grant individuals the right to own guns, how the citizens of this country have no right to any kind of educational guaranty, and how, at least at this point, we have no right to affordable health care. But... That's not what this post is about. So.... What IS it about? { Update #1.... Sorry, I have to interrupt th...

Rant for the day! Court-ing Death.

I was catching up on some of my Tivo 'd (don'tcha love it when a proper noun becomes a verb?) shows and was watching The Daily Show 's episode from Tuesday. After the obligatory faux news coverage the guest was some guy that wrote a book called Party of Death . Yes, that's right... there's a party in favor of death... can you guess which one? Actually he was talking about not just a political party, the Dems, but also the Media and the Courts. Now ranting about the whole calling of names for a group of people and slamming the Media is interesting in its own right, but that is a rant for another day... Today I'm here to rant on that last group.. The Courts. During the interview, the author, Ramesh Ponnuru, says that the Courts are a part of the Party of Death due to... wait for it... Legislation from the Bench. Yes the old favorite of the modern conservative that gets invoked any time they wish to place blame on someone but don't want to point at Lawyers...

Those damn emails....

I've been working on getting my thought on this one straight for about two weeks now (thus, the lack of posts... You get two, two, two eps in one for Lost on Thursday!) and I was asked by Larry to track down some facts... So I did and here's the first Rant in a Quite a while.... ...................well, that was yucky! I wrote and wrote and wrote and well, didn't like what I put down............ so here's my rant...... I really hate poetry emails! Hate 'em! Usually because they fall into a couple of general categories. 1) God loves you and I love you and here's a poem I plagiarised off the Internet that tells you so. If you love anyone else, you'll send this email to everyone! 2) I've been wronged and I'm going to let everyone know about it by writing poetry. I'm sure that will change the minds of the people that wronged me and make things right again. 3) I'm a victim of teenage angst and felt compelled to put my anger and wrath...
