Or.... The Lost Lowdown on Locke's Lockdown (Thank you Larry!)
Wow! They really like to kick us in the gut (I was going to say nuts but that seemed kinda off color) once in a while and they did that three times last night!
The lowdown:
Jack is a gambler? Whodathunkit.... Think that this may come in handy pretty soon especially the fact that he can keep a straight poker face when up against a good enemy? And him conning the con man was awesome. Hey, I like Sawyer's character as much as the next guy, but getting him to lose the medical supplies was genius! My only gripe? Jack should have answered Sawyer's question about the guns with... "Who says I don't already know where they are?" and then waited for Sawyer to try to move them... Anna or Kate would have been perfect for the stake out.
Henry is really telling the truth? Nice setup to the reveal of Henry actually being a dead black man with no wife and a smiley faced balloon. When Jack and Kate found what I thought was another balloon in the jungle I was saying to myself, "Self, how did they get so far out into the jungle?" and then self said back, "No.... Its not the same one!" when Sayid, Anna, and Charlie came out of the trees. I have since been set straight that the light was attached to a rescue parachute that dropped supplies and thus the Dharma food stuffs (thanks to Chris S. for the info). Now I want to go back and see if the real Henry Gale has shown up in any other eps.
And then there's the lockdown and that damned hatch! Shock #1 was the collapsing toolbox. Even thought I knew that Locke got hurt, the fact that they led you to believe that the door was fully propped up actually made you feel the hurt when it fell even more. Shock #2 was that weirdly orange glowing map on the back side of the security door. I'll post a link to a HD screen capture as soon as I find one! It looked to me like it may be a map of the island area and marked the locations of the other hatches since one had a swan symbol on it. What the question mark in the center was all about is now going to be the driving mystery for a while, at least for Locke... Now he has a mission of his own. And even better, I wonder if Henry even knew that the map was there? If not, then the fact that he missed it is even cooler.
And before I sign off... I caught one easter egg in the show! Watch the planes flying over the hotel where Locke meets his dad. The first one that flys over belongs to a certain airline that usually has trouble when their planes are featured in movies and TV shows! Its only on the screen for about 3 seconds... but a great hide!
Let me know if I missed anything else....
Next up is Hurley and from what I hear, Lilly is hanging around in his flashbacks, but with a different hair color! And coming soon is the background story for Rose and Bernard! Looks like they are going to end the season very strong.
And if you are a fan of Alias... It returns in 3 weeks...(sniff... 3 long weeks).
Update #1 -- Screen cap of the map! - Here! Some Clarification here! More later!
Update #2 -- More map info blowed up real big! Lots of text decyphered also! Here! (Thanks go out to Chris again!)
