Serenity movie review....
Even if you don't call yourself a Browncoat, I believe that most people will like this movie... if they ever give it a chance. This was a WILD ride of a movie. Starting with a quick re-cap of the "Wheadonverse" that FOX prematurely dumped and, thankfully, Sci-Fi and Universal picked up, we pretty much get dumped into one of Mal's capers involving a bank heist and pretty little River. Things actually look like they are going well until the evil (not the bad, but the evil) guys show up. From there, it is pretty much action, action, action with some funny moments thrown in that will be even more fun for those that closely followed the TV show.
I'll try not to spoil too much, but the ending is great action and I thought that the space battle "twist" was far smarter than anything I seen on the Sci-Fi big screen in a LONG time.
I only have two complaints.
1) I wanted so BAD to sing with the audience the Theme song: The "Ballad of Serenity". Very disappointed by this being left out.
2) The deaths. We sat there through the last 20 minutes thinking that either this whole thing was a dream sequence or that Joss was going to kill EVERYONE. Of course neither happened but it kept us on the edge of our seats wondering!
Excellent movie! I highly recommend it to any and all Sci-Fi fans. Wheadon have have a trilogy on his hands....
